About a year ago a group of Eurovision fans started an internet campaign to support the German entry "Satellite", performed by the 18-year-old newcomer Lena. Lena won the contest, as you know, and now the same group of enthusiasts is setting out to support her successor, who carries the heavy burden of having to follow in Lena's footsteps, trying to win people's hearts. But to our delight the successor is... Lena!
Immediately after her victory in Oslo, Lena's mentor Stefan Raab suggested that she should "defend her title" at the next ESC – something that nobody dared trying in over 50 years. To many people's surprise Lena accepted the challenge, and German ESC officials agreed. Asked if she wouldn't damage her own monument by risking a low rank in her second run, her reply was absolutely Lena-like: "that's exactly why I'm doing it".
On her second album Good News Lena displays some innovative musical features as well as interesting new sides of herself, adding to the natural charm that has been characterizing her since her first appearance on stage. Lena performed the 12 new songs during three live shows on TV in which the German audience had the chance to elect the song for Lena that will be Germany's entry at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf.
The intense, somehow mystical electronic pop song Taken By A Stranger that won the preselection takes the listener by surprise. "Lovely Lena" is showing a fascinating mysterious side of herself. In a sense, this song can be viewed as her second contribution to modernize the ESC.
To get an impression of Lena's stylistic variety, please take a few minutes to watch these videos:
- Please join us in supporting Lena anew.
- Vote for a crisp and contemporary style of music at the ESC.
- And if you like Lena as much as we do, pass on this message to your friends. Every single vote counts!
Thanks to each one of you who will support Lena at this year's ESC!
